A homemade Carpenter bees trap

These are normally made of wood with a hole that looks like the hole or tunnel created by pestering carpenter bees. You can also do a carpenter bee trap on your own especially if you are out of budget. All you need are two empty plastic bottles preferably a liter size, rubber connector, a knife, strings about 12 inches, water and sugar. First you have to cut the plastic bottle with a knife into top third and invert it that will make it look like a funnel. Then connect the other plastic bottle to the opening of the inverted bottle using a rubber connector. Mix the sugar with water and pour in the mixture through the funnel like inverted bottle. Fill the bottle until about an inch from the bottom of the inverted bottle. You may also use the discarded sugar based soda mixture in lieu of sugar and water mixture. Punch a hole on two end sides of the inverted bottle and tie the string. Now you can already hang the trap in a place where the carpenter bees roam around. You can already trap carpenter bees inside the bottle and remember to check the trap regularly as the bottle will be filled up with drowning bees.
